Perhaps one of my favourite moments in an art documentary is Margaret Kilgallen’s famous ‘That’s Where The Beauty Is’ from Art21.
The section I’ve quoted below is one I love, but the whole video is worth watching.
“I think it’s the part that’s ‘off’ that’s interesting…
That even if I spend a lot of time…
Going over the line. and over the line…
And trying to make it straight – I’ll… never make it straight!
And from a distance it may look straight,
But when you get close up you can always see the line waiver.
… and I think that’s where the beauty is.”
